Job Description
CNN Robotics is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with 15+ years of experience in industrial automation and mechanical design. The role focuses on the design and development of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), welding fixtures, inspection systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and customized automation solutions.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in mechanical engineering calculations, component selection, detailed design and customer-facing technical coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and customized automation systems.
- Design high-accuracy welding fixtures and welding positioners.
- Work with Spot, MIG, TIG and Seamer welding applications.
- Design checking gauges and inspection fixtures using GD&T principles.
- Develop leak testing fixtures and automated leak testing SPMs.
- Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems based on application requirements.
- Perform mechanical sizing calculations for motors, gearboxes, bearings, linear motion systems and couplings.
- Select and configure standard bought-out mechanical components.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs, ECNs, 2D/3D designs, manufacturing drawings and design documentation.
- Coordinate with Project Management and Controls/Automation teams.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical presentations and Design Approval Processes (DAP).
- Support engineering design reviews and resolve technical design requirements.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in mechanical design and industrial automation.
- Strong experience in Special Purpose Machines (SPMs).
- Experience in welding fixture and positioner design.
- Good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical sizing and engineering calculations.
- Experience with motor, gearbox, bearing, LM guide, coupling and other bought-out component selection.
- Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/gauge design.
- Experience with 2D/3D mechanical design and manufacturing drawings.
- Strong communication and customer coordination skills.
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
